During our first visit to Vietnam in November 2005, we met Huy. She's a 13 year
old girl who sleeps on the street with her mother. She was run over by a car,
and because they could not afford medical care, they had to amputate her leg.
When we met her, she made her living by selling lottery tickets in the street
pushing herself around on a skateboard.
We wanted to get her off the streets.
In April 2006 Tinh, Jason and I returned to Vietnam and we met Huy again. We
were with her on her first day of school and we got her a sewing machine. She
will now attend this school where she will learn to sew. We hope she will be
able to provide for her family without living on the streets.
