FAMOUS MUSICIANS PAY TRIBUTE TO JOHN FAHEY IN CONCERT
Old Church concert promises to be a night to remember while raising money for needy children
Portland, Oregon - On Friday June 2nd, Slackertone Records is presenting five stellar artists to perform in concert at the Old Church located at 1422 S.W. 11th Ave. in Portland. The concert pays tribute to legendary folk-Americana icon John Fahey who left a legacy of innovative songwriting and profound writings which earned him a few Grammy awards.The concert lineup features Portland blues-roots legend, Terry Robb, Internationally acclaimed Vietnamese guitarist, Tinh, master harp guitarist, John Doan, W.C. handy nominee and chart-topping Americana-blues artist, Mark Lemhouse, and a special appearance by Gospel Hall of Famer, Larry Norman who, in his own right, has changed history in Gospel music and garnered fame from all ends of the earth. To top off the evening, a special video presentation will be shown in memory of John. All of the proceeds from the concert will benefit “The Village School Foundation”, a non-profit organization that builds schools for needy children in Vietnam.Admission is $15 at the door. Autographed copies of “John Fahey & Friends - Friends Of Fahey Tribute” CDs will be available for purchase. The CD commemorates the memory of John Fahey featuring many artists who he influenced including George Winston, Peter Lang, John Renbourn, Woody Mann, Mitch Greenhill, Paul Geremia, and others. All of the artists generously donated their royalties from the CD which benefit the Village School Foundation.
About The Village School Foundation
The Village School Foundation was founded in the fall of 2002. The Village School Foundation creates educational opportunities for poor families in Viet Nam by constructing new schools in rural areas and providing tuition grants to underprivileged children. With donated support, the Village School Foundation is committed to helping children realize their dreams and improve their quality of life.
